Neilsen De Souza graduated from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) with First Class Honours in the Bachelor of Optometry in 2003. Prior to this, he completed a Bachelor of Vision Science degree at the University of Western Australia.


He joined the International Centre for Eyecare Education in January2008, with a role in developing and delivering ICEE programs for eyecarepersonnel in Australia and other countries in the Asia Pacific region where ICEEis present. He has also been involved in ICEE project development activities.In December 2008, Neilsen accepted the role of ICEE Education ProgramCoordinator. He is now responsible for coordinating and delivering VariluxAcademy Asia Pacific (VAAP) and the Educators Presbyopia Education Program(EPEP). 

Nelson is currently studying for his Masters of Public Health (Learning andProfessional Development) at the UNSW, and has partially completed theFoundations of University Learning and Teaching at the same institution.Neilsen is a member of the Optometrists Association of Australia, and prior tojoining ICEE, he managed his family optometry practice in Perth, Western Australia.During this time, he also worked as a consultant optometrist at the Associationfor the Blind of Western Australia.
